WWE’s largest summer event, SummerSlam, featured high-stakes matches and intense drama. The event occurred in Cleveland and included CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre, Liv Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley, and Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa as some of the main matches.

1. Women’s World Championship — Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley:

Result: Morgan (c) def. Ripley via pinfall

The opening match of SummerSlam had two main subplots: a love triangle involving Dominik Mysterio and a cat-and-mouse game. Morgan was hesitant to engage in a direct fight, opting to evade and look for opportunities instead. Both superstars flirted with Dominik in an attempt to provoke their rival.

At the end, Dominik Mysterio helped Morgan and she was able to retain her championship.

2. Intercontinental Championship- Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker:

Result: Breakker def. Zayn (c) to win the title

On Saturday, the second match was completely different from the first one, which was fast-paced and intense. Both competitors made big mistakes early on by attempting their signature moves. Breakker injured his shoulder by crashing into the ring post, and Zayn missed with a Helluva Kick. The challenger executed an impressive Frankensteiner off the top ropes, paying tribute to his uncle Scott Steiner. The champion then hit Breakker with a Blue Thunder Bomb and an exploder suplex, which felt like it happened only 5 minutes into the match.

3. United States Championship- Logan Paul vs. LA Knight

Result: Knight def. Paul (c) via pinfall

Logan Paul arrived with musician Machine Gun Kelly. Knight arrived in Paul’s Prime-branded Hummer, which he had stolen on SmackDown. He smashed the blue-tinted windows with a steel pipe. A fight erupted before the match began, with Knight repeatedly slamming Paul’s head into the announce table and then hitting him with a burning hammer neckbreaker. The match then started, and it was evenly contested throughout. Despite Paul being born nearby, the crowd was supporting the challenger.

4. WWE Women’s Championship — Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax:

Result: Jax def. Bayley (c) via pinfall to win the title

Jax entered the ring wearing her crown, reminding everyone that she had earned the title shot by winning the Queen of the Ring tournament in May. It was a David vs. Goliath showdown. The champion’s speed and experience provided her with windows of opportunity, but Jax’s sheer strength often gave her the edge. Jax relied primarily on power moves, including her signature Samoan drops inside and outside the ring. Jax was surprised when Bayley kicked out of her Banzai drop finisher, dubbed the A-Nia-Later.

5. CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre (Seth Rollins as special guest referee):

Result: McIntyre def. Punk via pinfall

The tension between Punk, McIntyre, and Rollins was palpable. Punk and McIntyre brawled off the bat. Each man’s refusal to adhere to five counts implored Rollins to get physically involved. The action spilled outside as Punk repeatedly rammed McIntyre’s head into steel steps. McIntyre retaliated by swinging Punk into the announce table. While Rollins diligently applied the rules early, he ignored countouts to let McIntyre and Punk beat each other. McIntyre manhandled Punk through the middle portion, chucking Punk around and slapping him in the face.

World Heavyweight Championship- Damian Priest (c) vs. GUNTHER:

Result: GUNTHER def. Priest (c) via submission to win the title

Finn Baylor betrayed Priest in this match. Priest entered the match as an underdog champion, a stigma emphasized early in the match. GUNTHER overwhelmed Priest with his combination of physical power, technical brilliance, and ring generalship. It took a while but Priest turned the tide with a top-rope hurricanrana and his signature Broken Arrow. The next phase of the match was striking-oriented: Priest’s MMA-inspired strikes vs. GUNTHER’s chops.

7. Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa (Bloodline Rules):

Result: Rhodes (c) def. Sikoa via Pinfall

When Sikoa made his entrance, he didn’t have The Bloodline with him. Before coming to the ring, Rhodes received some encouraging words from Arn Anderson, a legendary member of the Four Horsemen, who assured the champion that he had friends around. People’s opinions on Sikoa as the Tribal Chief may vary, but he reminded everyone that he is most powerful in singles matches. Sikoa was immediately intimidating, powerful, and tactical.

He even managed to block Rhodes signature mat strike and warn him that he had been studied. The main event was a back-and-forth match with action inside and around the ring. Sikoa seemed to have the upper hand for most of the match, using his advantage to land some big moves.

So these were 2024 WWE SummerSlam Results that happened on 4th of August.
